Music

What makes music so popular? Perhaps it is its flexibility; its ability to be enjoyed in a variety of settings. Television and film is restricted to screens, be them in a theatre or the home and they rely upon the viewer looking at the screen and giving them their full attention. Music on the other hand, can be enjoyed anywhere, through speakers or headphones and do not require you to focus your attention in a particular direction. It can also be experienced in various different social settings, from alone in the comfort of the bedroom to a different setting accompanied by thousands at a band’s live show.

It is not just these settings that can implement music either and different genres exploit different settings and venues. Whereas orchestral music is often limited to concert halls or the like, other types of music such as jazz, rock, blues or country can often be found in smaller bars or clubs. In these settings, people can enjoy music in a variety of different ways, either as background music to accompany their night out or as the focal part of the evening.

However music is used, it is clearly an important and popular part of our world.
